Madinah Airport (MED) Baggage Guide 2026

Checked: July 2026 · Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International (MED) for Umrah and India–Gulf flyers · Operational details change often, confirm on arrival

Madinah Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International (MED) is a single-terminal airport and a common start or end point for Umrah. Saudia, flynas, flydubai and IndiGo have confirmed service; several other corridor carriers serve it seasonally, so confirm your route. Buy the sealed 5-litre Zamzam at the sales point by the Hajj terminal gate for roughly SAR 12, and carry it as a separate piece, not inside your checked bag. One honest warning: in-terminal left luggage is limited here, so plan around it. Prices and locations move, so confirm every figure on arrival.

Which corridor airlines fly from Madinah

Madinah runs a single main passenger terminal, operated by Tibah. Do not trust any listing that quotes multiple lettered or numbered concourses at MED; the airport works from one terminal building. Of our 14 corridor airlines, four have confirmed MED service, and the rest fall into a seasonal or unverified band that you should check against your own booking.

Saudia, flynas, flydubai and IndiGo are individually confirmed at MED. The others are grouped by the Umrah traffic pattern rather than a re-verified route, so check your ticket and the airline schedule before you rely on them.

The Zamzam sales point at Madinah

Madinah sells the official sealed Zamzam from a point on the exterior sidewalk in front of the Hajj terminal gate. A sealed 5-litre bottle costs roughly SAR 12 per passenger confirm at counter, one per passenger, and staff usually ask for your passport. As at Jeddah, only the factory-sealed container from the official project is accepted at check-in; a bottle filled at a Makkah or Madinah hotel is refused.

Carry the sealed bottle as a separate piece, not inside your checked suitcase. The Tibah point-of-sale wording asks you to carry the Zamzam separately, and airline fare rules line up with that, so keep it out of the bag and follow the airline and counter instruction on the day. Whether it flies free or counts inside your allowance depends on the carrier, which is set out airline by airline in the Zamzam rules by airline table.

Two Zamzam points at Madinah: the sales point is outside, by the Hajj terminal gate, so buy it before you go through, and keep the sealed bottle separate from your checked bag. If you fly flynas, carry Umrah proof in the Nusuk app, because the flynas Zamzam rule changed during 2026 and some counters may still quote the older ban.

Baggage wrapping at Madinah

Luggage wrapping machines are available at Madinah, landside near the airport entrance. The exact price is not published confirm on arrival, so we will not put a figure on it. Wrapping protects a soft case on a long sector, but it adds a little weight and does nothing to reduce an excess charge, so weigh your bag against your allowance first.

Excess baggage counter at Madinah

Madinah does not publish a separate, standalone excess-baggage counter, so plan to settle any excess at your airline's own check-in desk confirm at your airline desk. The airport counter is always the priciest place to buy weight. Prebook extra allowance online before you travel, weigh your bags at the hotel the night before, and keep 5 kg of headroom for the Zamzam box if your airline counts it inside your allowance. You can model prepaid against counter rates on our excess baggage calculator.

Left luggage and storage at Madinah

This is the honest weak spot at MED. In-terminal left luggage is limited and not guaranteed under Saudi security protocols, so do not build your plan around airport lockers confirm on arrival. The reliable options are third-party storage near the airport, from around SAR 15 per day confirm on arrival, or leaving bags with your hotel. If you have a long gap before a late flight, arrange the hold before you head to the airport rather than assuming a counter will be there.

Check-in closing times at Madinah

The same Saudi norms apply as at Jeddah. As a working guide, counters close around 60 minutes before an international departure and roughly 40 to 60 minutes before domestic, and flynas closes about 60 minutes before confirm with airline. These come from secondary sources, so treat them as directional and follow the exact figure on your ticket. Reach MED around three hours before an international flight, and add time in Umrah season, when the terminal and the Zamzam sales point are busiest.

Operational details at MED change often. Airline routes, the Zamzam sales point location, wrapping and storage availability and check-in cutoffs all move with seasonal Umrah surges and airport operations. Every figure on this page is a starting point, not a guarantee. Confirm your route with the airline and check current prices and locations when you arrive.
